Balloo restaurant is a hidden gem that delivers on some very unique cuisine.  Tim Balloo, the mastermind chef behind this operation, opened this adorably cozy restaurant in downtown Miami in the historic Ingraham Building. You would never know it existed walking by the building’s entrance off SE 2nd Ave, but you definitely won’t forget the food after eating there.

The prior partner of Sugarcane opened Balloo with the intent of creating a restaurant that served the type of food he enjoys eating at home, which is a derivative of the chef’s Chinese-Indian-Trinidadian heritage. Talk about a winning combo!

We tried it all, from burnt cabbage with crispy pork and Thai sticky fish sauce covered wings, to peanut nam prik, spicy shrimp noodles and trini fried oxtail with pigeon peas and rice.

The menu also changes daily so you can always expect to try something different.  The food was delicious and we will definitely be adding this to our list of restaurants to go back to.
